Backing up the results of your work

Backing up the results of your work on a regular basis can save you a lot of time and money by making sure you don’t ever accidentally lose important data. Let Task Attender do this for you! Schedule data backups and Task Attender will create them thoroughly and on time, every time. No forgetting.

Below is an example of how to create a task that will automatically back up your data, according to the specified schedule.

Step 1. Creating a new task.

Use the 'New Task' button on the toolbar to create a new task.

 

 

Step 2. Configuring the task.

After you create a new task, you will see the 'Task setup' dialog box where you can configure the parameters of the task.

Type the name of the task in the 'Task name' field.

By default, you can specify a brief description of the task in the 'Task description' field.

Leave the 'Enable task' checkbox selected.  In this case, the scheduler will run the task automatically according to the specified schedule.

To save the task, click the 'Save' button:  The new task will be added to task list in the main window of the program after that.

 

 

Step 3. Creating a schedule for a task.

Select the interval for which you'd like the task to be run.  The task will be run once a month in this example.

Select the time for which the task should be run.

Specify the day of the month upon which the task will be run.  The last Friday of the month is specified in this example.

Select the months during which the task will be run.  All months are selected in this example.

 

 

Step 4. Adding the 'Backup' command to the task.

Select the created task in the list of available tasks.  You can do this using the mouse or the arrow buttons on the keyboard.

After you click the 'Save' button in the 'Task setup' dialog box, the new task is automatically selected.

Click the 'Add new command' button on the left-side toolbar.  You will then see a dialog box where you should select the command type.

Expand the 'Archive' group in the tree of available commands.

Select the 'Compress' command and click the 'Next' button.

After that you will see the configuration dialog box of the 'Zip files' command.

 

 

Step 5. Configuring the 'Zip files' command.

Use the 'Browse' button to select the folder you need to back up.

Use the 'Browse' button to select the folder to which the backup will be saved.

Specify the backup file name.

You may add a parameter to the name of the backup file if you wish. The current date will be added to the backup file name in this example.

Click the 'Save' button.  The new command will be saved.

The task that backs up the data according to the specified schedule has been created.
